FlexxBridge for a Municipal Utility

A municipal utility in the Midwest needed to keep its legacy IVR applications in step with broader SOA initiatives being implemented throughout its IT infrastructure.  Its legacy Nortel IVR platform was aging, but PSS was intimately familiar with the utility's environment having supported the IVR platform and PeriPro applications for years.

FlexxBridge in Government

Most people think of FlexxBridge Integration Server as a product that can simplify interactions between an IVR and external databases.  FlexxBridge can simplify other kinds of interactions as well.  An agency of a large state government was working with PSS to transition from a legacy IVR system a new VoiceXML-based IVR system.  Instead of using text-to-speech for the IVR application prompts, the agency preferred using concatenated recordings of live voice talent.  Managing concatenated prompts was a very simple thing to do in most legacy IVR platforms, so the customer assumed this would be the case in VoiceXML as well.

FlexxBridge in Healthcare

A very large prescription and healthcare services company engaged PSS to provide a fully speech-enabled VoiceXML upgrade to their legacy touch-tone IVR.  As part of the upgrade, they wanted a more robust integration to back-end systems so callers could have easier access to health and prescription information, refills, billing, and general services through the IVR.  The customer had already implemented web services on the back end that would be made available to the new IVR applications to be developed by PSS.
